Leading companies are embracing (and benefiting from) meditation & mindfulness training in the workplace.

Isn’t it time yours did too?

Meditation & mindfulness has been proven to reduce stress, develop a calm mind and heighten productivity – and that’s precisely why leading companies such as Apple, Google, Nike, Proctor & Gamble and Yahoo! are making training available to their workforce.

Mindfulness improves a person’s ability to respond rather than react unconsciously and to think more clearly and strategically. It enhances self-awareness, self-management and social awareness and numerous studies also suggest that it enhances resilience levels.

For employees this can mean higher engagement in tasks, better working relationships, more energy and fewer symptoms of stress and anxiety.

For business managers & employers, this translates into a happier, healthier work force, higher productivity and reduced costs associated with sickness absence.

How Can We Help?

The Life Raft can introduce mindfulness to the workplace in a number of ways, including:

  • 8 week and 4 week ‘full courses’
  • Taster days & half days
  • One & Two-Day group intensives followed up with individual access to our 8-week online course
  • Online learning

Full courses

Our 8-Week & 4-week mindfulness courses offer a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of mindfulness. These courses allow participants to fully integrate mindfulness into their daily working life and to experience the wide-ranging benefits.

Each session combines guided mindfulness practice, discussions around the practical application of mindfulness both at work and at home, and a theoretical exploration of the essential principles of mindfulness.

The preferred time scale for the full course is 8-weeks (1 x 2-hour session per week) as this allows optimum time to embed helpful new habits of thought and behaviour. The 4-week option (1 x 3 hour session per week) is offered where travel and work schedules are prohibitive.

On these courses participants can expect to learn the following skills:

  • Improved attention and concentration.
  • Increased ability to limit the effects of work-related stress, and stay focused and calm when exposed to challenging and unpredictable situations.
  • Increased ability to work with challenging situations and stressful events in more resourceful and skilful ways.
  • Increased mental and physical energy and a higher sense of engagement in work activities.
  • More aware of unhelpful emotional states and habits of thought which contribute to stress and better able to respond to them by cultivating stability of mind.

In addition, participants generally feel much happier, more energised and less stressed both during the course, and after completion. They frequently comment that they feel their lives are more meaningful, that they have more control and are more likely to see challenges as opportunities rather than threats.

Taster Days

Taster sessions range from a two-hour session to a full day, and provide the perfect balance between theory and practice. They can be integrated into a team-building day, or provided as stand-alone training, and can help you discover whether mindfulness is something your organisation wants to explore further.

Theoretical presentations are interspersed with a variety of guided mindfulness exercises and take-home strategies which offer participants an insight into how mindfulness can improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

1:1 coaching and mentoring

1:1 coaching is specifically designed with senior staff in mind, or anyone who might find it challenging to attend group training on a regular basis due to time constraints or other commitments. Sessions provide individually tailored mentoring enabling individuals to develop a sustainable mindfulness practice and skills that they can then implement into their working life.
